Final meeting: Wednesday 21st August 1839
The first Dove House meeting at Harrow on the Hill took place on Thursday 11th August 1836 to replace the Enfield and Pinner meetings which had lapsed. The next year the meeting was included in Baily's Racing Register in 1837 and was staged on Edstone Farm, Pinner, within a stone’s throw of Oliver Cromwell’s former moated residence. The opening Dove House Handicap over 2 miles was won by Mr W Edwards’ Crichton defeating Cornborough. The 1839 meeting was held in mid-August and Whyte commented that ‘judging from last year’s sport, the meeting bids to attain permanent success.’ Sadly it proved to be the final meeting at the course. |
